He told me that I needn’t worry, because he will pass his exams next time and Siegfried Farnon will have forgotten all about this in the morning.Ĭhapter 8: Getting used to the life (pages: 28-31) Siegfried sent him out and said he never want to see him again. He has failed one of his exams to be a vet.
When mister Farnon returns I tell him about the horse and he tells me he would have done the same.Ĭhapter 7: Tristan arrives (pages: 25-27) And Mr Soames is very angry.Ĭhapter 6: Siegfried steps in (pages: 23-24) There was only one thing that I could do: I must kill this horse.Ī bad start. The first day when I worked as the assistant from Mr Farnon, the telephone rang and I must go to a horse with a colic.īut when I arrive it was not colic at all. I also meet some farmers and I like them. Mr Farnon said that I can have the job and he told me about the sort of things he wanted me to do, what the local people were like and what his plans were. Then we go to a little pub in the village. Later Mr Farnon shows me one of the wildest but most beatiful places in England. I make them better while Siegfried looks at me.Ĭhapter 4: A visit to the pub (pages: 17-18) Then we went to a calf with a cut leg which I stitched and to a cow with a blocked teat. But at last a thin stream of pus came out. I took a knife, lifted the foot and had to cut in the hoof to reach the pus. We are going to a farmer with a sick big cart horse. Siegfried has a very old car and he drives very fast, looks out of the window and often stops suddenly. Mr Farnon shows me the country and he is testing me.
He says that he will show me the country around. Mr Farnon is arrived and he shows me his house what there is: the dispensary, the instruments and the operating room. Two people come to see the vet, Mr Farnon, but he is not at home and James cannot help them, because he cannot understand them.Ĭhapter 2: Siegfried Farnon (pages: 11-13) His housekeeper gives him tea and then she goes away. When he has arrived Mr Farnon is not at home. James had just past his exams to be a vet, and now he is going to find a job in Yorkshire. The stories are nice, but sometimes difficult to read.
