With consideration, Kahlen finds herself 80 years later, serving Her, the Ocean as a Siren. Kahlen is about to let herself be lured to the water, to her death, but stops to ask for forgiveness from any sort of higher power that would listen. Little does she know, the rocking back and fourth is a calling to her, and her families death. She’s rocking back and fourth on the ship she is on and her Mother is struggling with her makeup routine. One minute she is looking in the eye of her Mother through her reflection in the mirror. “The Siren” is about a girl from the 50’s named Kahlen. Oh and another cool thing about reading The Siren, is that Kiera Cass is a local author! Her newest book The Selection will be published in 2012 by Harper Children's.Hi everyone! Welcome to my book review! Todays review is on the new release by Kiera Cass The Siren. (I have a thing about unusual names - Katniss kept me from reading The Hunger Games for a long time. Thankfully Kiera has a name guide on her website with the correct pronunciation. I'm still getting used to the unusual names. I just started reading the first few pages, but I'm really excited to find out where this story takes me. It sounds completely different from anything I've ever read. And as my birthday is right around the corner, I wanted to read it. I received The Siren a couple of years ago for my birthday and have not yet read it. I wanted to share the book that I am currently reading but not necessarily reading for review.

Suddenly the life she's been waiting for doesn't seem nearly as important as the one she's living now. But when Akinli, a human, enters her world, she can't bring herself to live by the rules anymore. Kahlen has lived by these rules for years now, patiently waiting for the life she can call her own. The same speech has been given hundreds of times to hundreds of beautiful girls who enter the sisterhood of sirens. All you have to give, for now, is obedience and time." I won't lie to you, it can be a lonely existence, but once you are done, you get to live.

You can speak to us, and you can always commune with the Ocean, but you are deadly to humans. This means that, in general, you cannot form close bonds with humans. "You must never do anything that might expose our secret.
