I liked that Tod and Kaylee were already friends and had a long-standing mutual respect for each other. This kind of a rebound relationship usually bothers me, but it really worked here. He was on my last nerve the last couple of books, so when Kaylee finally ended things with him in book five, I wanted to stand up and cheer! Simultaneously, she discovers Tod's true feelings for her, and realizes her feelings for him.
